waiting for the best in house shows

Christopher Guest should totally make a movie about real estate agents. Over the course of five days I met with The Overly Nice Woman who isn't very sure of herself (played by Catherine O'hara), Mr. Single Slicked Back Hair who (wink-wink) is not in the business of loosing money (played by Christopher Guest), The Rarely Laughing Nerd who won't look my baby in the eye and thinks everything but my husband's stereo has to go (played by Todd Louiso - the nerd in High Fidelity), The Dream Team of Women who have double the energy on one agent (both women would be played by Parker Posey ... kinda like Lindsay Lohan/Jodie Foster in The Parent Trap), and finally the team that cannot be characterized by words alone ... Ken Doll and the Troll.

I think we are going with Team Parker Posey. The more they work, the less I have to.

learning to hate your house

I interviewed real estate agent #3 today. I liked him. Really honest. And dorky in a good way. He made it official. We have too much stuff. This is not a surprise to me at all. I come by pack-ratting honestly. There is a long line of them in my family. I am the "organized" pack rat. The guy walked into the kitchen and exclaims "Wow. You have a lot of work to do." He didn't seem notice the 25 lb baby attached to my hip the whole time he was here. I have lots of free time to pack twice.

Everything he told me to keep in the house the guy yesterday said to get rid of.

"The books have to go and the TV. And the crib. And the huge yellow dresser in the dining room. And the dining room table. And your office."

"So why don't I just move out and have you sell the place empty?"

"No! Furniture sells a place. But maybe clear out your closets, too."

juggling

Last night at Paul and Val's I was changing D's diaper when Billy asks "Can D sit up?" "Yes, Billy, he can sit up." Long pause. "Well, can he juggle?"
