a bit busy

Here is what we have been working on for the past two months. Hazel is awesome.

T and I had a great time participating in ArtCrank this year. There was so much good work. Here is our poster.

another family affair

Tom's cousin has a children's music class in Chicago (via Music Together). I just did a quick logo for her.

two great designers

I discovered this beautiful iPhone app on BloesemKids. Finally ... a well designed kid's app. Most of you already know it is not common. The illustrator of these adorable animals is Ryan Clark (who works for Forge in Dayton, OH). Be sure to check out his other animals (and get your free iPhone wallpaper).

And through GrainEdit I found local Denver designer, Justin Fuller. Goodness he is good. It is nice to see that great designers are everywhere.

Would you check out these pencil tip sculptures?!? I am in awe of the detail.

blanket and books

I can kind-of knit. I wish that I had the time and patience to make this gorgeous blanket. Then I could curl up in it and read one of these books. All covers are designed by Coralie Bickford-Smith. Her sense of the nostaligic is wonderful. I feel like I just picked them up off of my grandmother's bookshelf ... but the colors aren't as faded.

not quite a fashionista

My sense of what is "in style" has slowly diminished since I became a mom. Most fashion mags leave me feeling frumpy and way out of touch. So I am probably behind the eight ball in discovering Fly London. Oh my ... what awesome shoes. With a belly that looks like I am carrying a large globe, shoes are about all I can dream about until I get my bod back.

See more Fly styles here ...

raw art letterpress

I love the irregularity of type in these prints.

Found via: Creature Comforts (a new favorite blog)

Finally someone has taken amazing artwork designed for children and put it in one place. Unfortunately it is out of Sydney. The Kindergallery needs to move stateside and all would be perfect!

oooh la la

These French sites (My Little Day and La Cerise Sur le Gateau) are full of gorgeous photography ... which proves that even though I don't need a THING on either of the sites, beauty creates desire.

punky brewster baby clothes

Target is carrying a line of organic baby clothes by Little Seed, Soleil Moon Frye and friend's baby company. I love the bright colors. Mae Mae may need a few fresh pieces of his/her own!

i have a favorite app

So far, I have not obsessed over iPhone apps. I have some, but I try to use my phone as a phone and planner. There are great kid apps but I cannot stand the tantrums when phone time is up. I recently found Hipstamatic on a mom-blog and am LOVING it. I rarely took pics with the phone because they were so crumby. But now the Hipstamatic app does all of the Photoshop work for me and I have these cool vintage-looking pics.

I feel as if I have featured this talented illustrator before ...

I love her antiqued mixed-media style. Be sure to check out the animation, too.

music changes everything

Moods in this house can change in a second. Tantrums are thrown when you least expect them. Our four year old boycotts any or all choices frequently. When we throw on some good tunes everything changes. It is like we all step into a natural rhythm and things just work. I found both of these links on SwissMiss. I wish so much that the song quotes on Music Philosophy came in paper poster form. If you only knew how many times I sing "you can't always get what you want" in a day.

Project Thirty Three features amazing, graphic album covers. Love it.

so yummy!!!

We are planning D's fourth birthday. Doesn't this cake look scrumptious?

mae mae

This designer is super talented. I love her take on wedding invites ... letterpress, flat print or print-at-home. The sets that she offers are fun and well crafted.

sidenote: we are expecting numero tres and D has named he/she "mae mae". Kinda funny.

I am obsessed/enamored with beautiful charts. The forethought that has to go into each line shows such talent. We Love Datavis is a Tumblr collection of charts, maps, graphs, and diagrams curated by All are incredible.
